How to Process Anti-Asian Racism with Your Child

I’ll never forget the time a white guy followed my friend and me down State St. in Madison, WI, doing the Gangnam style dance, for a few blocks.

One of the most insidious layers of racism is when others stand by and watch it happen. And do nothing. Say nothing. And maybe even feel numb to it, as if it’s just part of what happens when you live here in the U.S.

Dear parents, I made this episode to help you do better, that your children might experience something and someone good here on earth better than we could imagine on our own.

It took me decades to accept, embrace and even commit to doing the best I can with the identity and identities I’ve been given. I hope this episode would support your children in that process as well.

Thanks so much y’all for the work you do in your homes and in our communities.

I do consider it a profound joy that we could lock arms together toward truth and love here and now even as we take daily steps toward that true home to which we’ve been called🙏🏼💌
