In this particular training, participants will gain insight about a) birth family, b) birth culture, and c) practical interventions to help adoptees and their family members explore birth family and birth culture.
The format of this eLearning is a combination of story-telling and education. Trans-racial adoptee and therapist, Cam Lee Small, presents a narrative exploration of his own experience of adoption along with a deck of educational slides to support the following objectives:
1) Discuss themes related to foster care and adoption
2) Learn and review interventions that support emotion identification and emotion expression related to an adoptee’s birth family and birth culture
3) Initiate further dialogue on adoption and adoption reform
